France Becomes the World's Leading AI Hub: What It Means for Monaco

$69 Billion: France Attracts More Than the United States

In 2025, France became the world's leading country for foreign investment in data centers. $69 billion committed to building tomorrow's AI infrastructure—twice as much as the United States. These figures aren't theoretical: they're already translating into concrete projects in healthcare, climate, and scientific research.

This positioning is based on a structural advantage: largely decarbonized and competitive energy. Data centers consume enormous amounts of electricity, and France offers a nuclear energy mix that makes these infrastructures economically and environmentally viable in the long term. This is a decisive argument for attracting international investors.

Mistral AI Grows, Anthropic Explodes

Mistral AI, France's AI champion, completes its first acquisition by purchasing Koyeb, a startup specializing in serverless cloud. The objective is clear: build a true European AI cloud to strengthen its Compute platform. The teams will merge in March 2026.

Meanwhile, Anthropic—the company behind Claude, the AI we use daily at AIM Studio—has raised $30 billion for a valuation of $380 billion. Its annualized revenue reaches $14 billion, multiplied by ten in three years. Claude Code, their development tool, has seen its weekly active users double since January. OpenAI isn't far behind with a $110 billion raise, and Runway doubles its valuation to $5.3 billion.

These massive fundraising rounds aren't a speculative bubble. Unlike the 2000 Internet bubble, these companies generate real and rapidly growing revenue. AI is an infrastructure that monetizes.

France Adopts MCP: A World First

A more discreet but equally significant signal: data.gouv.fr, France's public data platform, launches an MCP server—the Model Context Protocol developed by Anthropic to connect AI to data. The result: over 45,000 French public datasets are now accessible by any AI chatbot. Open source, free. France is the first country in the world to do this.

While Washington distances itself from certain AI players, Paris adopts their best innovations. This is a strategic positioning that makes France an unparalleled testing ground and adoption hub for AI in Europe.

Companies Take Action

This movement isn't limited to AI startups. Accenture, with its 780,000 employees worldwide, now requires senior executives to use AI tools or risk hindering their promotion. 550,000 employees have already been trained in generative AI fundamentals. Amazon Ads launches its Creative Agent in France with impressive results: one partner brand saw its click-through rate increase by 300% thanks to AI-created campaigns.

Airbnb integrates AI for search and support. Leboncoin becomes the first French e-commerce company to launch an app in ChatGPT. Lydia launches its financial AI assistant. Adoption is no longer experimental: it's operational.

The Opportunity for Monaco

Monaco directly benefits from this French and European momentum. Geographic proximity to French infrastructure, the concentration of international companies in the Principality, and the local business community's appetite for innovation create an ideal context. Talent is within reach, infrastructure is nearby, and demand is here.

At AIM Studio, we're convinced that Monaco has a major role to play in this dynamic. We support Monegasque businesses in integrating AI into their creative production and digital strategy. If you want to understand how these developments can benefit your business, contact our team.
